I am pleased you have found your way to the Science Education web site at the University of Northern Iowa. Science Ed. at UNI is an interdepartmental, intercollege unit comprised of faculty teaching in 4 science content departments in the College of Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Earth Science, and Physics) as well as faculty from the College of Education who teach secondary science at Price Laboratory School and Elementary Science Methods in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
Science Education within the CNS:
- has 2 integrated secondary science teaching majors and a science minor for elementary ed. majors
- offers 3 Liberal Arts Core science courses especially designed for elementary ed. majors
- teaches all of the secondary science methods courses
- has a Master of Arts in Science Education
- is involved in LOTS of teacher professional development
- has a science curriculum materials center that includes science kits that can be checked out by K-8 science teachers.
